The General Secretariat of the Federation of Arab Universities held an interactive seminar on trends, challenges and best practices for distance learning during the time of the Corona pandemic, entitled "Pilot experiences in distance learning in Arab universities at the time of the Corona pandemic" On Sunday, corresponding to 28/6/2020 at 12 noon, Oman time, on the Zoom program.
This symposium aims to open the horizons for providing participatory spaces for the purpose of presenting the experiences of the leading Arab universities for distance learning, in terms of the opportunities for success, challenges and difficulties faced by Arab universities at the time of the ban, physical distance and the closure of universities. It is understood that many Arab universities have taken accelerated decisions to apply distance education during the period of suspension of the study that the world is going through due to the spread of the Corona epidemic in order to ensure the continued educational process in universities effectively and included a set of general conditions to ensure the quality of educational outcomes.
This pandemic has imposed on Arab universities new educational methods for use in those universities, as some Arab universities have adopted a number of programs that help with distance learning and have been applied and evaluated accurately.
This symposium also aims to identify the best good practices in distance learning in terms of general technical readiness to communicate information to students by lecturers, student participation, examinations and evaluation methods.
In this regard, Sabha University’s experience since 2016 was in applying e-learning and education at a distance in some specialties and discussing postgraduate studies, which managed to solve most of the problems related to that
