Coronavirus is a large family of viruses that may cause disease in animals and humans. The virus causes a disease called Coronavirus Covid-19.

It is an infectious disease caused by the Corona virus.

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, fatigue, and dry cough. Some patients may suffer from aches and pains, or nasal congestion, or runny nose, or sore throat, Or diarrhea.

These symptoms are usually mild and begin to worsen gradually. Some people become infected without showing any symptoms and without feeling sick.

Most people (about 80%) recover from the disease without needing special treatment. Approximately one out of every six people who becomes infected with Covid-19 becomes seriously ill and experiences difficulty breathing

People at risk of infection

Older people and people with underlying medical problems such as high blood pressure, heart disease or diabetes are more likely to be affected.

The disease is spread by infection by other people infected with the virus.

Disease transmission

The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets that spread from the nose or mouth when a person with COVID-19 coughs or sneezes. These droplets fall on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people can then become infected with COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces and then touching their eyes, nose, or mouth. People can also become infected with Covid-19 if they breathe in droplets from an infected person who coughs or exhales. It is therefore important to stay more than 1 meter (3 feet) away from a sick person.

Transmission through the air

  • Studies indicate that it is transmitted through contact with respiratory droplets rather than through the air.

Some simple precautions:

  1. Clean your hands well regularly by rubbing them with an alcohol-based sanitizer. Or wash them with soap and water
  2. Maintain a distance of at least 1 meter (3 feet) between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
  3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  4. Make sure you and those around you follow good respiratory hygiene practices.
  5. Stay home if you feel sick.
