Project ENBRAIN – Capacity Building in the Field of Renewable and Sustainable Energy in Libya

The (Capacity Building in the Field of Renewable and Sustainable Energy in Libya) is an international cooperation initiative funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ (Erasmus+) program— Capacity-Building Projects in Higher Education (KA2). The project aims to strengthen the capabilities of Libyan higher education institutions in the field of renewable and sustainable energy by developing innovative teaching methods, improving academic programs, and building the knowledge and skills needed to address future energy challenges .

The ENBRAIN Among a number of Libyan universities and European partners, coordinated by the Polytechnic University of Turin (Italy), in collaboration with the Association of Mediterranean Universities (UNIMED),the University of Barcelona (Spain),the University of Évora (Portugal), as well as a number of Libyan universities, including University of Sabha, University of Tripoli, University of Misrata, University of Sirte, and University of Zawiya . Through this international partnership, the project contributes to institutional capacity-building, the promotion of academic cooperation, and the exchange of expertise between Libyan and European higher education institutions .

The main objective of the ENBRAIN To develop and promote education and scientific research in the field of renewable and sustainable energy through the creation of a modern educational platform based on the development of new academic courses, e-learning methods, digital tools, and innovative teaching approaches. The project also contributed to the design and development of a master’s program in renewable and sustainable energy at Libyan universities, in addition to supporting the creation of training courses and open educational resources to raise awareness of the importance of sustainable energy among students, researchers, and the community. .

Through its various activities—which include curriculum development, capacity-building programs, workshops, the establishment of laboratories, and the promotion of international cooperation—the project contributes to ENBRAIN To prepare a new generation of specialists capable of addressing global energy challenges and supporting Libya’s shift toward sustainable energy solutions. The project represents an important step in strengthening the role of Libyan universities in the fields of education, research, and innovation in renewable energy and in achieving sustainable development. .
