The UNIGOV \u2013 Modernizing University Governance and Management<\/strong> in Libya project was one of the European Union’s most important projects in the field of higher education reform in Libya during the period 2012\u20132015\u20132016. It was led by the University of Alicante from Spain<\/strong>, in partnership with European universities include London Metropolitan University from the United Kingdom, Tallinn University of Technology from Estonia, and Bratislava University of Technology from Slovakia; and Libyan universities, such as Benghazi University, Misrata University, Zawiya University, Al-Marqab University, and Omar Al-Mukhtar University, in addition to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Sebha University as a local coordinator<\/strong>. The project focused on developing university governance and management, building the capacities of academic and administrative leaders, and produced a national benchmark study on the challenges facing Libyan higher education<\/strong>.
