ARMONIA Project \u2013 Harmonisation and Modernization of the Higher Education System in Libya<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ARMONIA Project<\/strong> (hARmonisation and MOdernization of the higher education system in Libya introducing Bologna process principles at National and InstitutionAl levels<\/em>) is an international cooperation initiative co-funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ Programme \u2013 Capacity Building in Higher Education<\/strong>. The project aims to support the reform, harmonisation, and modernization of the Libyan higher education system by introducing the principles and practices of the Bologna Process<\/strong> at both national and institutional levels.<\/p>\n

ARMONIA brings together 13 Libyan higher education institutions<\/strong>, with the involvement and support of the Libyan Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research<\/strong>, in collaboration with European partners including the Mediterranean Universities Union (UNIMED)<\/strong>, the University of Pavia<\/strong>, the Sapienza University of Rome<\/strong>, and Istanbul Aydin University<\/strong>. Through this partnership, the project promotes knowledge exchange, institutional cooperation, and the transfer of European best practices to strengthen the capacity of Libyan universities.<\/p>\n

The project focuses on enhancing the quality and internationalization of higher education by improving academic structures, developing student-centered learning approaches, strengthening quality assurance mechanisms, and supporting the adoption of the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS)<\/strong>. It also aims to improve the comparability and recognition of academic qualifications, facilitate academic mobility, and create stronger links between Libyan and European higher education systems.<\/p>\n

Through capacity-building activities, training programmes, workshops, benchmarking exercises, and collaborative initiatives, ARMONIA supports Libyan universities in developing effective institutional strategies, improving teaching and learning environments, and building sustainable frameworks for international cooperation. The project represents an important step toward establishing a more flexible, transparent, and globally connected higher education system in Libya, while encouraging continuous improvement, innovation, and mutual learning among participating institutions.<\/p>\n
