About these figures

  • Source. All outcomes, the two 80% processing times and the readership data come directly from the editorial system of the journal (Open Journal Systems).
  • Editorial outcomes. These cover manuscripts submitted during the period that have a final decision, so the three figures together make 100%.
  • 80% processing times. Each shows the number of days within which 80% of manuscripts reached that stage, including slower manuscripts that needed several revision rounds or a longer search for reviewers.
  • Usual time. This is an estimate by the editorial office for a manuscript needing one revision round, in line with the targets on the Editorial Process and Timeline page.
  • Editorial screening. Manuscripts outside the Aims and Scope of the journal, and manuscripts not prepared in line with the Author Guidelines, are returned without external review so that authors can submit them elsewhere without delay.
  • Readership. Abstract views count visits to the landing page of an article. PDF downloads count views and downloads of the full-text file. Total views combine both. The median is the middle value across the 99 articles with recorded usage: half of the articles have more views than this, and half have fewer.
