The Sebha University Students’ Union is a democratic student-led body elected directly by students across all faculties. It represents the collective voice of the student population and is responsible for advocating on their behalf regarding academic, educational, cultural, and recreational rights. The Union liaises with the university administration and the Ministry of Higher Education in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The organisation is formally known as the Sebha University Students’ Union, as it comprises student unions from the university’s individual faculties. It is recognised as the sole legitimate representative of Sebha University students, both within Libya and internationally.
Acknowledging the vital role of young people particularly university students as one of the most dynamic and influential segments of society, the Students’ Union aims to inspire civic engagement, promote knowledge and dialogue, and foster unity and mutual respect. It rejects division, conflict, and individualism while encouraging national cohesion and student empowerment. The Union also strives to support student talents and uphold the smooth and lawful continuation of the academic process at Sebha University.
The Students’ Union is headquartered on the main campus of Sebha University, in the city of Sebha.
The Union’s emblem is circular in design, featuring an orange crescent and star, a book, a candle, and two hands shaking. These elements symbolise knowledge, enlightenment, cooperation, and national identity.
