Illegal Immigration and Challenges to Demographic Security and Population Fertility in Libya

Abstract

The phenomenon of migration is a global phenomenon, and has increased and evolved with the development of telecommunications, making migration a dangerous trend that affects the future country more than the sending country. This study monitored the impact of illegal migration on Libya's demographic security and population fertility. The researcher used the analytical descriptive approach by reviewing literature, studies and statistics on the study's subject. The study aimed to identify the risks of illegal migration to Libya's demographic security and to identify the reality of illegal migration in Libya, as well as the threats to Libyan demographic security and its impact on population fertility. The study found a number of findings, including that irregular migration is one of the greatest threats to Libya's demographic security and has negative effects on Libyan society in the areas of health, administration, security and social. The study also showed that the absence of policies and plans aimed at reconstructing southern regions and protecting their populations from displacement and lack of services has contributed significantly to increased waves of illegal cross-border migration, negatively affecting those areas.
