General Requirements
The Journal of the Humanities (JOHS) welcomes submissions in both Arabic and English, with the aim of ensuring a balance between the two scholarly languages. We emphasize the importance of using expert language editing services for authors who are not fluent in the language of submission. Manuscripts may be submitted as full research articles, short correspondence, or reviews.
Regular Articles: Ideally, they should not exceed eight printed pages.
Reports and Reviews: Should not exceed six printed pages, including references, figures, and tables.
Typically, an eight-page article consists of approximately 40,000 characters, in addition to two figures or tables, assuming each figure or table occupies less than a quarter of a page.
Authors should ensure the following:
Corresponding Author: One of the authors has been designated as the corresponding author and has provided complete contact details, including a valid email address and full postal address.
File Uploads: All required files have been uploaded, including:
The manuscript (with keywords, figures, and tables).
Graphical abstract files (if applicable).
Additional files (if applicable).
The manuscript has been proofread for spelling and grammar.
There is full consistency between the reference list and the citations in the text.
Permission has been obtained for the use of any copyrighted material.
The journal's policies, as outlined in the Guide, have been reviewed.
Authors may withdraw articles submitted to JOHS, but a formal withdrawal requires a written notification to the Editor-in-Chief.
Upon acceptance of an article, authors will complete a "license agreement" granting exclusive rights to their open access articles to JOHS. Authors retain the rights to their research data and may reuse and share their work for scholarly purposes, with proper attribution.
The corresponding author is the primary contact for inquiries about a published article.
Responsibility for the article rests with all authors.
Authors of published articles are responsible for promptly informing the journal if they discover any aspects that need correction.
No changes to the author list or the addition of new authors may be made without submitting a signed letter of approval from each author to the editor.
The affiliation of each author must be with an institution and cannot be changed after publication.
Scientific Publishing Ethics: The rules governing interactions between authors, reviewers, editors, publishers, and readers in scientific journals.
Editor-in-Chief: The person responsible for making publication decisions.
Author: An individual involved in publishing scientific research.
Reviewer: An expert who assists the journal with publishing decisions.
Editorial Board: Composed of editors, the editorial board, and technical editors.
Publisher: Sebha University.
Authors can submit their articles using the journal's electronic submission system, which guides them through the process of entering article details and uploading files.
Files must be saved in the native format of the program used (e.g., .docx). The text must be in a single-column format with single spacing and one-inch margins. Avoid using automatic text justification or hyphenation. Ensure accuracy by using the spelling and grammar checking functions.
The Journal of the Humanities (JOHS) accepts and publishes the following article types: original research, review articles, short reports or correspondence, case studies, and research methodologies.
Original Research: Comprehensive reports of research data, including an introduction, methods, results, and discussion.
Short Reports or Correspondence: Concise reports of original research data, suitable for quick communication.
Review Articles: Provide comprehensive summaries of research on specific topics and periods, citing approximately 100 foundational research articles.
Case Studies: Reports of specific instances of interesting phenomena.
Research Methodologies: These articles introduce new experimental methods, tests, or procedures, whether entirely new or improved versions of existing methods.
Format the Word file according to standard A4 paper.
Use single spacing and Times New Roman 12-point font.
Organize the manuscript in the following order: (Title, Authors, and Affiliations) → (Abstract) → (Keywords) → (Introduction) → (Materials and Methods) → (Results) → (Discussion) → (Conclusions) → (References) → (Footnotes).
Write a concise and informative title that clearly conveys the main points, avoiding abbreviations and formulas.
Provide precise names and affiliations, including contact details for the corresponding author.
Write a brief abstract (maximum 300 words) that outlines the research objective and summarizes the key findings.
After the abstract, include up to six keywords. Avoid using general terms and multiple concepts.
State the objectives of the study and its relationship to previous research.
Provide sufficient detail to independently replicate the experimental ideas and procedures. Briefly explain published methods.
Present clear and concise results, with data presented in figures, tables, and a brief textual description.
Provide interpretations of the results, focusing on their significance rather than repeating them.
Briefly summarize the main conclusions of the study.
Number references consecutively and cite them in the text with numbers.
Present supplementary material within the specified size limits.
Ensure that tables are editable and that figures are correctly inserted and sized, with titles and labels that contain sufficient detail.
List abbreviations before the references in the format "Term: Definition."
All submissions must meet the following requirements.
Upon article acceptance, authors will complete a license agreement granting exclusive rights to their open-access articles to JOHS. Authors retain rights to their research data and may reuse and share their work for scholarly purposes, with appropriate citation and documentation.
The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
