Impact of The Administrative Leadership Styles on Job Satisfaction
Abstract
This study aims at finding out the impact of the administrative leadership styles (autocratic leadership style, democratic s leadership style, and Laissez-Faire leadership style) on job satisfaction among the faculty staff at the University of Sirte. The researcher relied on the analytical descriptive approach using the questionnaire as a tool for data collection. The study population consisted of the managerial staff in the administrative departments at the university faculties totaled (220). The questionnaire was distributed to the sample of the study (140), (116) of which were returned and (107) of which were chosen for the statistical analysis. The study showed many results, including that there was a high degree of exercise of the democratic leadership style with an average of about (3.76), which was more applicable than other styles, followed by the Laissez-Faire style, while the level of employee satisfaction was medium. The results also indicate that there was a significant correlation between leadership styles and job satisfaction. The autocratic style had a negative correlation with job satisfaction. The results of the study indicated that there was an impact of the democratic leadership style on job satisfaction by (45%), and a very weak impact of the autocratic, and the Laissez-Faire leadership styles on job satisfaction. The main recommendations of this study was the need to adopt and strengthen the style of democratic leadership (the participant) in order to benefit from the competencies existing at the university, and to take corrective measures to exercise the style of autocratic leadership, and the style of Laissez-Faire leadership. Another essential recommendation was to raise the level of job satisfaction of the employees through the development of training programs for the improvement of leadership skills of the deans of faculties at the university, and assigning the right individuals in the right place.
