In the academic year 1990/1991 AD, the university’s graduate studies program began in the College of Arts specifically in the Department of Arabic Language and then the College of Science followed it with a number of scientific departments, the College of Engineering and Technical Sciences, the College of Agriculture, and the College of Energy and Mining Engineering. Sebha University is interested in graduate studies and research, as its programs include granting a graduate degree with a master's degree and the university is seeking to adopt a doctoral degree program in its scientific departments. The college periodically holds many scientific and sports activities, exhibitions, scientific conferences, awareness seminars and training courses. It also participates in various activities held by university colleges or other universities inside and outside the state of Libya and faculty members participate continuously in many local and international conferences.
