– The study aimed to explore the antimicrobial properties of the alcoholic extracts of fennel and baker’s yeast and identify the active chemical components responsible for this effect. Through this research work, the researcher sought to study the “Synergistic Interaction” between these natural extracts and conventional antibiotics, to show how they can enhance the effectiveness of treatment and reduce bacterial drug resistance.

– The researcher used a rigorous laboratory approach to extract the compounds and test their sensitivity against certain types of pathogenic bacteria. The results showed a promising ability of the active plant components to inhibit microbial growth, opening new horizons for integrating natural extracts into modern therapeutic protocols.

– المحور الرابع (دور القبيلة في تحقيق التعايش السلمي وبناء مجتمع متماسك قائم على التفاهم والمسؤولية المشتركة) قدمت خلاله د. فاطمة علي المهدي مداخلة بعنوان (التسامح الاجتماعي وآثاره النفسية والاجتماعية على الفرد والمجتمع) من 11:01 إلى 11:10، تناولت فيها الأبعاد النفسية والاجتماعية للتسامح كقيمة إنسانية داعمة للاستقرار، في حين قدم د. حامد الحضيري مداخلة بعنوان (التوظيف الاجتماعي والسياسي للعامل القبلي في تحقيق التعايش السلمي) من 11:11 إلى 11:20، متناولًا فيها دور القبيلة بوصفها أحد المكونات الاجتماعية المؤثرة في تحقيق المصالحة والاستقرار.

The Scientific Committee of the Ninth International Conference on Science and Technology at Sabha University convenes its third meeting and initiates the evaluation phase

As part of the ongoing preparations for the Ninth International Conference on Science and Technology, the Scientific Committee of the Conference held its third meeting this morning, Sunday,26 April 2026, at the University headquarters, in the presence of the committee members, to announce the start of the actual phase of evaluating the research papers and scientific contributions submitted. During the meeting, the committee reviewed the current status of contributions, noting that the total number of scientific papers received had reached 70 papers. Reports indicated that the largest proportion of these participations was focused on the “Computer Science and Information Technology” theme, reflecting the growing interest in digital transformation and modern technologies in the current edition of the conference. The attendees also discussed the evaluation mechanisms adopted to ensure the quality of scientific content, and agreed to activate the following procedures:

Initial examination: All papers undergo an initial review to ensure they comply with the formal and technical requirements.

Scientific integrity examination: Using advanced tools to examine citations and ensure the extent to which artificial intelligence techniques are used in writing papers, to ensure scientific authenticity.

Dual Evaluation (Double-Blind Review): Referring papers that meet the requirements to two competent reviewers, based on precise criteria for selecting arbitrators. The meeting concluded with an agreement to refer all received contributions to reviewers within a time limit not exceeding two weeks from submission date, to speed up the pace of work and ensure that researchers are responded to on the pre-determined dates. The Scientific Committee confirms that these measures aim to enhance the conference’s position as a leading platform for innovative scientific research.

The Committee considered a range of staff-related matters, including urgent cases, personnel files submitted for review, and issues referred from previous discussions. Members also addressed additional items raised by the Chair within the Committee’s remit.

The meeting forms part of the Committee’s ongoing work in relation to staff and administrative matters across the University, supporting effective institutional governance and the maintenance of a professional working environment.

Expressing the university’s keenness to build bridges of cooperation and integration with higher education institutions in Niger in the academic and research fields, exchange professors and research, and provide postgraduate study opportunities for Nigerian students in the specialisations of technical sciences and humanities.

As part of Sebha University’s ongoing efforts to support innovative scientific research that serves the health and technology sectors, the Faculty of Science – Department of Physics witnessed, on Monday morning (09-02-2026 AD), at 10:00 AM, in the Graduate Studies Hall of the Faculty of Engineering, a public discussion of a master’s thesis submitted to achieve the requirements for obtaining a higher degree (Master). The thesis was submitted by the student, Najat Muhammad Abdullah Al-Tabawi, and was titled: (Detection and Diagnosis of Spinal Disc Herniation from Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Using Image Processing Techniques). The study aimed to develop and apply advanced algorithms in digital image processing to improve the accuracy of detecting disc herniations in the spine through magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

The study aims to provide technical tools that assist doctors in making early and accurate diagnoses, thereby reducing human error and enhancing the efficiency of treatment plans. In her study, the researcher relied on an experimental scientific approach that combines applied physics and computer science, where a set of image data was analysed, and advanced filters and segmentation techniques (Segmentation) were applied to extract infection features with high accuracy, which makes this research a vital addition in the field of biomedical physics.
