Department head word

   The Department of General Sciences at the College of Engineering and Technical Sciences is considered one of the first departments that were established with the opening of the Higher Institute of Technology in Brak in 1979/1980 according to Law No. (69) for the year 1979 in which students engage in pre-specialization as a preparatory year and is one of the largest departments at the college level. Serves all the scientific departments of the college.

In the year 1984 the University of Sabha was established and its headquarters are in the city of Sebha, and after four years of the establishment of the university the higher engineering school at the University of Sabha was established in the year 1988 and its headquarters in the city of Sebha, and in 1991 the higher engineering school was merged with the Higher Institute of Technology - Barak according to Resolution No. 745 Regarding the restructuring of Libyan universities, and its official name has become "College of Engineering and Technical Sciences".

The department includes a number of faculty members in various disciplines, in addition to a number of teaching assistants, technicians and administrators, and the department also contains several teaching staff laboratories that include many educational devices. The department receives annually from 400 to 450 students.
