Data Availability Policy

JOMS encourages authors to make the data underlying their findings openly available, and requires every research article to include a Data Availability Statement before the References.

Data Availability Statement

The statement should say where the data can be found and under what conditions. Examples:

• The data supporting the findings of this study are openly available in [repository name] at [DOI or URL].
• The data are available from the corresponding author on reasonable request.
• The data are not publicly available because they contain information that could compromise participant privacy; anonymised data are available from the corresponding author on reasonable request with approval from [ethics committee].
• No new data were created or analysed in this study.

Repositories

Where possible, authors should deposit data in a recognised repository that assigns a persistent identifier, such as Zenodo, Figshare, Dryad or Mendeley Data. Nucleotide and protein sequences must be deposited in GenBank, ENA or DDBJ, and accession numbers given in the article.

Patient data

Data from human participants must be fully anonymised before sharing, and must be shared only in accordance with the participants' consent and ethics approval.

Access for editors

Editors and reviewers may ask to see raw data during review or after publication. Authors are expected to retain their raw data for at least five years after publication. Refusal to provide data when concerns are raised may lead to rejection, an expression of concern or retraction.
