Editor-in-Chief’s Message

Raising the Voice of Libyan Health Research on the Global Stage
It is with profound gratitude and renewed purpose that I assume the role of Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Medical Sciences. As we turn the page to a new chapter, I believe the time has come to be bold — to reposition this journal not merely as a venue for academic publication, but as a strategic and influential voice for health research emerging from Libya and the broader region.
Raising the voice of Libyan health research on the global stage is not just a slogan — it is our guiding mission. Founded to champion evidence-based inquiry and provide a platform for regional scientists, our journal must now evolve to meet international standards of visibility, credibility, and impact. One of my central goals is to lead the Journal of Medical Sciences toward indexing in Scopus, inclusion in global bibliographic databases, and eventual recognition within SCImago Journal Rankings (SJR) and similar platforms. This journey requires a shared commitment — from our editorial team, authors, reviewers, and readers alike. It demands scientific rigor, editorial transparency, and adherence to global publishing standards. To that end, we will begin implementing strengthened editorial policies, clearer author guidelines, and enhanced peer review processes. Our aim is to raise the quality and consistency of published research while remaining inclusive and supportive of early-career researchers and local contributors.
The journal will continue to focus on health and biomedical sciences, with particular emphasis on Libyan public health priorities, regional disease patterns, clinical innovations, health systems and education, and community health challenges. We welcome submissions that approach these topics through clinical, molecular, epidemiological, or policy-based lenses — as long as they offer insight, innovation, and relevance.
In the coming months, you will see new initiatives take shape: thematic calls for papers, capacity-building programs for authors and reviewers, and a clear roadmap to international indexing. We are actively aligning with the technical and ethical standards required by Scopus and other indexing bodies. To our fellow researchers in Libya and beyond: we invite you to join us. Submit your best work. Contribute as peer reviewers. Share our content. Help us build a journal that not only meets international benchmarks, but also reflects the values, priorities, and scientific excellence of our region.
Finally, I extend my heartfelt thanks to our dedicated editorial team. Your expertise, commitment, and tireless efforts are the foundation of this journal’s progress — and its future success.
