About
The college was established in the academic year 1977/1976 under the name of the College of Education, which was a branch of the University of Tripoli, and thus would be the first college to be opened in southern Libya. The duration of the college was eight semesters, and the college started with three departments, namely: (Department of Arabic Language and Islamic Studies - Department English Language - Department of Philosophy and Sociology). In the academic year 1978/1977 AD, the college combined humanities and applied sciences, in which it opened a group of scientific departments, namely: (Department of Chemistry - Department of Physics - Department of Mathematics - Department of Natural History)
In the academic year 1985/1984 AD, the college specialized in humanities to be called the College of Arts and Education.
As for the academic year 1997/1996, it was named after the Faculty of Arts after it was included in the colleges of the University of Sabha that were established by Resolution No. 187 of 1983.
