Abstract
يتناول هذا البحث قيام دولة السلاجقة واتصالها بالخلافة العباسية التي كانت تمثل الزعامة الروحية في العالم الإسلامي آنذاك ، والعلاقة بين الدولة الوليدة (السلاجقة) والخلافة العباسية التي كانت تعاني ظروفاً سيئة وصعبة نتيجة ضعفها وتفكك أجزاء كبيرة عنها وتحولها إلى دول مستقلة ، إضافة إلى الصراعات الدينية الطائفية التي أنهكتها أيضاً ، حيث يتحدث البحث عن نشأة السلاجقة وتوسعهم على حساب جيرانهم من الدويلات الإسلامية الأخرى وتأسيسهم لدولتهم واضطرار الخلافة العباسية للاتصال بهم والاستنجاد بقوتهم ضد الدولة الفاطمية المناوئة لهم. وكيف تمكن السلاجقة من دعم الخلافة العباسية بعد أن كانت على وشك الانهيار والسقوط، ولكن في مقابل ذلك قاموا بالاستيلاء على السلطة وزمام الأمور بحيث تستمر الخلافة كمجرد رمز ديني لا حول له ولا قوة .
