About the college
The study actually started at the College of Science, where it received the first batch of its students at the beginning of the academic year 1983 AD with the beginnings of establishing the university by Resolution No. 720/1983 issued by the University Council. The Faculty of Science is the only Sabha University in the Libyan south of the eighteen colleges of the university and includes nine scientific departments.
In the academic year 1990/1991, the university’s graduate studies program began at the College of Arts specifically in the Department of Arabic Language, followed by Faculty of Sciences with a number of scientific departments. The College of Science is concerned with graduate studies and research, where its program aims to grant a postgraduate degree with a master's degree and the college seeks to adopt a doctoral degree program in its scientific departments. The number of graduates of the university degree at the College of Science has reached 4,931 students since its establishment in 1983 to 2016 AD until the last thirty-seventh batch.
The College of Sciences seeks to develop its role in serving the local and international community through its goals, vision and mission in order to improve the academic level of faculty, technicians, employees and college students.

The College of Science seeks to provide distinguished and necessary academic programs to prepare distinguished scientific cadres according to the best international specifications and provide the community with qualified graduates to play an effective role in their scientific fields and interest in scientific research.
College goals
- The numbers of specialists in the fields of research and applied sciences and the provision of integrated study programs that guarantee the obtaining of degrees awarded by the college.
- Contribute to teaching applied basic sciences.
- Conducting scientific research and studies in various fields, strengthening ties, and exchanging experiences with other scientific bodies inside and outside Libya.
- Contributing to the spread of scientific culture in various fields to keep pace with the development of modern science, and the provision of services, scientific and technical consultations for institutions, bodies, centers, and relevant public and private bodies.
