The effect of the prevailing leadership style, in scientific departments, on job satisfaction among faculty members at Sabha University
Abstract
This study aims to discover the impact of the leadership style dominant among heads of scientific departments regarding job satisfaction for teaching staff members of Sebha University. The researchers followed both qualitative and quantitative approaches where a questionnaire is used as a tool for data collection. The number of teaching staff members of Sebha University involved as participants in the study were (87). The most important findings of the study are the presence of apparent differences in the arithmetic averages of the fields of study due to the difference in the leadership style practiced by the heads of scientific departments at Sebha University, where the field of the democratic leadership style ranked first, followed by the field of the free leadership style, and came in the rank The latter is the domain of the authoritarian leadership style . The results also showed that the level of job satisfaction among faculty members at Sebha University in general was at an average level. The study concluded with a number of recommendations, the most important of which is increasing the level of job satisfaction among faculty members through the realization of university officials and heads of scientific departments of the need to find an appropriate leadership style for them.
