The beginning was with the establishment of the Higher Institute of Physical Education in the city of Ghat, according to the decision of the General People's Committee No. (740) of the year (1986 AD). Physical decision of the General People's Committee No. (59) of (1992 AD).

أن علوم التربية البدنية تندرج تحت تصنيف العلوم التطبيقية لا الإنسانية وذلك لآن أكثر من 70 % من موادها ذات الطابع العلمي فعلى سبيل المثال لا الحصر(علم التشريح – علم وظائف الأعضاء – الميكانيكا الحيوية – علم الإحصاء – علم الحركة– التربية الصحية والتغذية– إصابات الملاعب – الإسعافات الأولية – العلاج الطبيعي – تربية القوام ، رياضة معدلة) بالإضافة إلى المواد العملية  التطبيقية .
