With completion of this course, the students can provide an overview of fossil power
generation, power distribution and power trading within energy systems. In this context they
can explain characteristics of different power generating technologies and their economic
efficiency. The main focus will be on coal, oil and natural gas based power generation.
Besides technical knowledge, students will study nvironmental impacts and sustainability
issues of fossil fuels. Furthermore, the students can nderstand and explain subject-related
content.– Basic knowledge of fossil power generation, power distribution and power trading within
energy systems.
–Application of methodologies for detailed determination of energy demand or energy
production for various types of energy systems.
–Technical, environmental and economical evaluation of energy systems.
–Independent literature research, acquiring particular knowledge and transforming it to new
questions.Teaching and learning methodology of this course is based on lectures and examinations.
Within the lectures, the lecturer will transmit information to the students. To support active
learning part students, they will have an interactive component between students and
teache. To make this possible, each topic will be related to lecture notes in a form of a
presentation, which will be handed to the students on time.The grading policy for the course will be as follows:
