The expected developmental role of small and medium enterprises in Libya
Abstract
The attention and development of short and intermediate projects have become one of the fundamental strategies which are given special significance by most developing and developed countries as they are the cornerstone of economic development and they are real indicators of development in countries. Therefore, the study is about the decrease of short and intermediate projects in Libya and their inabilities to continue, compete and conduct their developmental role expected. For the purpose of showing the role of these projects in achieving economic development in Libya particularly, the researcher has performed this study to show the reality of these projects in Libya, the extent of their contribution in providing job opportunities and eradicating unemployment, their contribution to local output, knowing the problems and difficulties which impede their success and giving some recommendations and possible solutions. According to this study it is concluded that these projects are considered the main sources of national economic development to any country. the reliance of Libya on oil brought the country away from directing and its contribution to these projects in different spheres especially in agricultural and industrial sphere. According to the result, the researcher has given some recommendations which may contribute for the progress of economic activity which include:
1- The importance of giving more enough attention to these projects and giving all support to them to achieve the developmental role expected.
2- The reliance on other resources rather than oil as the main source, expansion in conducting these projects which can be done by the reliance on other resources available locally such as agriculture and other resources.
