Sebha University Council held its second regular meeting of 2026 on Tuesday, 3 February, chaired by the University President, Dr Masoud Ehmad Al-Raqiq.

The meeting was attended by the Vice President, faculty deans, and the heads of university centres and administrative departments. Opening the session, Dr Al-Raqiq welcomed members and presented updates on academic operations and the organisation of the academic year. He also reviewed official circulars and correspondence, stressing the need to comply with the instructions issued.

After approving the minutes of the previous meeting, the Council discussed several matters, including:
• The progress of teaching across the faculties
• Faculties’ requirements for academic staff
• The expenditure report for the 2025 financial year

The Director of the Information Technology Centre briefed the Council on the Centre’s work and planned updates to the university’s official website. He explained that incomplete academic staff CVs and profile information on the university system had directly affected the university’s position in international rankings. He therefore urged faculty deans to ensure that staff update their academic records, as this data is used in global university ranking assessments.
