Niger’s Ambassador to Libya officially visited Sebha University.
Acknowledging the university’s leading role in shaping public policies in the region and its beneficial influence at all levels, the Ambassador of Niger to Libya, along with his delegation, made an official visit to Sebha University on the morning of February 9, 2026. He was received warmly by the President of the University, the Acting Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, the Dean of the Faculty of Languages, and some directors of departments and offices at the university.
At the beginning of the meeting, the President of the University extended a warm welcome to His Excellency, the Ambassador of the sisterly State of Niger and his accompanying delegation. He praised the enduring fraternal relations that have united the peoples of Libya and Niger throughout history, highlighting the love, friendship, and ongoing communication that characterise their bonds at both the popular and official levels.
He presented an overview of the establishment and development of the University, its affiliated colleges and centres, its scientific and academic activities and its role in serving society and the environment. Expressing the university’s keenness to build bridges of cooperation and integration with higher education institutions in Niger in the academic and research fields, exchange professors and research, and provide postgraduate study opportunities for Nigerian students in the specialisations of technical sciences and humanities.
His Excellency the Ambassador of Niger expressed his great happiness to be present at Sebha University and among its students, professors and employees, stressing that one of the priorities of his work program was to visit the university and meet with its presidency to discuss and consult on scientific and academic cooperation programs and benefit from its capabilities and various programs due to the prestigious position and good reputation that the university enjoys on the African level He hopes that this visit will be the beginning of multiple joint cooperation programs between the University of Sebha and the universities of Niger, adding that he will push strongly in this direction with officials in the universities. The Director of the Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the Southern Region affirmed the Ministry’s support, support and sponsorship of all scientific cooperation programs and agreements that establish the establishment of real cooperation and integration between higher education institutions in Libya and Niger, and that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation will work to overcome obstacles and remove challenges that hinder this or prevent reaching it.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the University President presented the University Shield to His Excellency, the Ambassador of Niger, in recognition of his esteemed visit. The President expressed hopes for a successful outcome, anticipating positive results that would lead to practical programmes benefiting the educational process.
